My design thoughts:

I wanted the display to be a reminder of deadlines that are easy to forget at this busy time of year (with the holidays and the semester wrapping up). I found a stock picture of a student covered with books that I thought was perfect. Then I found a background stock picture that included some USU landmarks that would personalize the stock photo student.

I wanted the background to be a very faint detail so I used a pin light blending mood. I tried lowering the opacity but decided that with the pin light blending mood did the job just fine. Then I added in the picture of the student. I used the pin tool to cut the student out of the white background.

Finally, I added text to the top of the graphic. I used a calligraphy font. I added more text at the bottom of the graphic however, the background was very vibrant so it was hard to get the text to stand out. I added a white rectangle and lowered the opacity to 50% to give the text a more washed-out background.
